Wynnum is at the mouth of the Brisbane river, 25 km from the Brisbane CBD.  Wynnum is a lively, family friendly seaside suburb.  Wynnum is mainly a residential suburb.  The primary shopping areas of Wynnum are on Bay Terrace, Tingal Road and Glenora Street.  Wynnum has a large variety of schools and playgroups, community parks and sports centres, including the Wynnum Golf Course.  The main roads in the area are Wynnum Road, Tingal Road and Pine Street.  Wynnum is connected to the CBD via the Cleveland railway line.



Wynnum includes the localities of Wynnum North and Wynnum Central. Tingal Hill and part of the low ridge that runs from Wynnum to Lota. The low ridge that runs from Wynnum to Lota is the only major protuberance on what is generally a coastal plain.  Moreton Bay forms the eastern boundary and Wynnum Creek runs through the centre of the suburb.
